History Of Zamel's

Zamel’s prides itself as a brand offering Quality Jewellery at most affordable prices. Over the years Zamel’s has created a number of exclusive ranges such as Hush, Kiss, Tensity & Eclipse across various Jewellery categories such as Rings, Earrings, Pendants & Wrist-wears. Zamel’s also offers a range of Diamond Jewellery through its enviable collections of the World – New York, London & Paris Collections along with some very well renowned Watch Brands. 

For over 60 years now, Zamel’s has been creating some great memories, spreading happiness and creating trust.Currently there are over 30 Zamel’s stores across Australia.  


ZAMEL'S TIMELINE

1954:Lily & Philip Zamel opened their first store in Cooma, New South Wales when construction of spectacular and vital dams was in full swing as part of the historic Snowy Mountain River Scheme.

1960:With a growing family, Lily and Philip decides to move to South Australia hearing about growth opportunities where with the assistance of the new City of Elizabeth located just north of Adelaide opened the 1st Zamels Jewellery store

1961:Operating a Celebrity Coffee lounge in this area as well, Philip sells the lounge and instead opens the Elizabeth Gallery Gift

1965:Zamel family decided to spread their wings, taking the opportunity to open new Jewellery stores in the growing areas of Tea Tree Plaza at Modbury and Parabanks at Salisbury. This is when the real growth of the company began. After selling the Gift Store in Elizabeth, Lily & Philip decided to concentrate on selling only file jewellery, and the company grew as a truly genuine jewellery business selling diamonds, gold, silver, precious stones, and watches

1965 – 1987:During these years of growth, family opening stores across numerous locations in the state including the one of Grenfell Street and not long after moved to the heart of the central business district in Rundle Mall.

1988 – 2005:With the company operating successfully in Adelaide, the Zamels Family decided to look for other areas in which to expand, the first being Perth, Western Australia (1988) and Victoria (1990). It was in September 1998 the Zamel group expands into yet another state, this time Tasmania. In March 1999 the company opened the first store in Canberra, ACT. Soon after the first store opens in Queensland (2005)

2006:Zamels now a known national brand launches its own Jewellery collection called “Hush”, one of the first collections in the industry providing an entire range of Diamond Stimulant Jewellery set in 9karat Gold.

2007:Private Equity purchases Zamels Jewellers

2009:Zamels launches its exclusive Men’s Jewellery and Watch collection “Tensity” across all its stores.

2011:Zamels becomes a part of an International Diamond entity, to become one of the only Jewellers having access to Diamonds directly from Mine to Market

2012:Zamels now “The Diamond People” launches one of Australia’s biggest Solitaire Collection featuring ranges of Preferred, Classic, Signature & Colourless Solitaire Diamonds

2013 – 2015:Zamels launches an enviable Diamond Jewellery Collection of contemporary designs inspired by the cities of the world – New York, London & Paris.

2021:Zamels Jewellers celebrates 61 Brilliant years of creating memories, creating trust, and spreading happiness
